Have you noticed that once you have a really good laugh, more laughter comes easily?
Last night I spent a much needed evening with great friends. And we laughed. It was the kind of laughter that forces tears out of the crinkled corners of your eyes. The kind that makes you realize how much you don’t actually engage your ab muscles. Once that kind of laughter breaks through, all the stores of frustration, worry, careless words, and small hurts come tumbling out with it. For me, the space left leaves room for laughter to come more easily. There’s a little more freedom to breathe more deeply. This morning, despite my sore abdominal muscles, I find myself still laughing. At stories from my dear friends. At the way my son demands hugs and snuggles rather aggressively. And this face…
Thanks for the laughter and the grace, friends.
